(CercleFinance.com) – The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has awarded Crosstown Partners, a consortium between Thales and TC Electric (TCE), a contract for the deployment of the CBTC SelTrac signaling system, and the modernization of the signaling system, routes and equipment.
Thales will also maintain the system under a 25-year service contract.
The 16 km long Crosstown Line connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens and serves 21 stations. Before the pandemic, it carried tens of thousands of travelers a day.
‘We are delighted to continue our partnership with MTA and bring our SelTrac technology to them; for New Yorkers, it will mean better travel conditions and minimal disruption when deployed,” comments Alcino De Sousa, Vice President and General Manager, Urban Rail Signaling, Thales.
