Thanks to D4 Planner, you can test and create Diablo IV builds

Ahead of the release of Blizzard’s hack’n’slash, the D4 Planner site offers players the opportunity to test builds of Diablo IVclass by class.

It’s not until June 6 — or June 2, if you’re in Early Access — that you’ll be able to get your hands on Diablo IV. But while waiting to embark on the world of Sanctuary, you have the opportunity to look now at how you plan to spend your skill points and your paragon points.

D4 Planner, to compose your build Diablo IV

The D4 Planner site offers a simulator allowing you to distribute the points that you will recover as you progress. Depending on your class (Barbarian, Necromancer, Sorcerer, Rogue, and Druid), you can view the talent tree and select spells and abilities that you find useful, and that seem to combine well together.

Currently, the features offered include:

  • The talent trees for the five classes;
  • The list of skills by class;
  • Items and related aspects;
  • The Paragon Trays;
  • Class-specific abilities (like skeletal stats for necromancers).

The distribution of points can however be oriented according to the equipment worn. Indeed, objects can give points for free for this or that spell. The D4 Planner site is not yet able to take this into account, because the game is not available. Players have therefore not yet been able to collect equipment with their character.

Hopefully D4 Planner will be upgraded to include these “bonus” points. If Blizzard is setting up a service allowing you to consult your character’s file on the web, it shouldn’t be complicated to retrieve the data from worn items to include them in the calculator. In the past, Blizzard has launched character sheets (Diablo III Or wowFor example).

A build creator in development

The site, shared by its creator on the sub-Reddit dedicated to Diablo IV, is still under development. The talent trees, the icons, the effects of each spell, the paragon boards: all of this is currently based on what could be seen during the two beta weekends organized by Blizzard, as well as the videos presenting high-level content.

Many icons on tiles are guesses ”, gladly admits lowpoly_nomad, the author of the map. ” If they weren’t shown in the dev video, I have no idea which icon corresponds to which type of paragon tile, so for now a good chunk of it is guesswork. »

It is for this reason that this calculator does not yet integrate the glyphs well, for lack of video showing in detail their operation. If the developers talk about it by June 6, lowpoly_nomad can add them before D-Day. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait. Until then, the developer will continue to update D4 Planner with the public elements available.

D4 Planner offers the opportunity to explore each talent tree and think about your future favorite build. In player jargon, a build refers to the distribution of points and skills, usually taking into account your equipment and playstyle. There can be an offensive build or another defensive one, for example.

The builds in Diablo are essential at high level, because optimization becomes essential to progress in the highest difficulties Moreover, it is not uncommon for players to refer directly to the best builds shared on the Internet, rather than to bother dialing theirs from zero. There are thus builds that are more “meta” than others.

Even if the tool is incomplete and still contains errors (the ceilings for the maximum values are possibly erroneous, for lack of having the complete set available), it is promising if it continues to be updated in the months and years to come. Especially since D4 Planner, here, does not require spending in-game gold to test various point distributions.
