To respond to the craze for generative artificial intelligence (AI), Google unveiled several major developments this year, including Duet AI, its AI-based assistant intended to optimize user workload in Google applications Workspace. Today, Duet AI is getting a major update.

On Wednesday, exactly a week after unveiling its most powerful AI model, Gemini, Google announced that Duet AI would integrate the model from the start of 2024. Excellent news for users of the Google suite.

An even smarter assistant

When Google announced Duet AI for Google Workspace in May, its capabilities were already solid. The AI-powered assistant was able to help suite users with almost any task, from composing an email to creating a slideshow to organizing of a meeting.

Thanks to the capabilities of Gemini’s multimodal model, Duet AI becomes even more comprehensive, as it will soon be able to interpret images, videos and audio – in addition to text.

For example, you are participating in a video conference on Google Meet, and you want to know which slide the meeting transcript corresponds to. Duet AI, thanks to Gemini’s ability to understand images, will be able to help you with this.

In addition to Duet AI’s multimodal capabilities, Gemini will also improve the AI assistant’s ability to understand and generate text. The latter will thus be able to produce better quality texts more quickly. A skill that should be particularly appreciated in Gmail and Google Docs.

Duet AI for Developers and Security Operations

Google hasn’t said whether this new feature will impact the pricing of Duet AI in Workspace, but the assistant currently costs around $30 per user per month after the free trial period expires.

Google also announced other news about Duet AI, including the availability of Duet AI for Developers, intended to facilitate software development, and Duet AI in Security Operations, which aims to help protect an organization.

In addition to the Duet AI updates, Google made a series of Gemini announcements focused on applications for developers and businesses.
