In the course of the ranking “The 101 Best Hotels in Germany”, the prizes for sustainability and digitization were awarded for the first time.

The ranking for “The 101 Best Hotels in Germany” for 2021/2022 has been finalized. The winners were honored and honored on November 28th at the Öschberghof wellness and golf resort in Donaueschingen in the Black Forest. For the first time, the prizes for sustainability and digitization of the German hotel industry were also awarded.

“Everything that is measured is also improved”

The “101 Best – Sustainability Award of the German Hotel Industry” is intended to serve as a role model for the hotel industry and to encourage them to take a responsible approach against global warming. “Everything that is measured is also improved”, emphasizes Carsten K. Rath, initiator of the ranking. In addition to hotels, outfitters, partners and suppliers as well as architects were nominated. In the end, the award went to the architecture and design office noa * network of architecture, based in Berlin and Bolzano (Italy). They would have shown that sustainability can be luxurious and at the same time enrich the guest experience.

This year, for the first time, there were further prizes in the categories “Newcomer of the Year” (Hotel Engel Obertal), “Newcomer of the Year” (Bachmair Weissach Spa & Resort) and the “The 101 Best – Digital Prize of the German Hotel Industry” (Grand Elysée Hamburg). The latter was therefore able to convince with its very good online marketing.

The top addresses in Germany

The best list presented for the first time in 2020 “The 101 best hotels in Germany” selects the top addresses in Germany in a total of six categories: the best grand hotels, the best hideaways, the best culinary hotels, the best spa health resorts, the best hotels within historic walls and the best city hotels.

This year, the first place in the general ranking is shared by the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Hamburg and the Hotel Schloss Elmau (both 1st place). Followed by the other top 10 placements of the hotels Breidenbacher Hof Düsseldorf (3rd place), Severins Resort & Spa Sylt (4th place), Oriental Munich (5th place), Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt Rottach-Egern (6th place), Sonnenalp Ofterschwang ( 7), Bachmair Weissach Spa & Resort (8th place), Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden (9th place) and the Hotel Traube Tonbach in Baiersbronn (10th place).

Berlin is the front runner

The Berlin location made it into the rankings fourteen times this year. The hotels can be found in four of the six main categories. Munich can look forward to a total of six placements. The Mandarin Oriental Munich (5th overall ranking) was even awarded first place this year in the “Best City Hotels” category. The north can also be found several times: an unbelievable eight Hamburg hotels and seven Sylt accommodations have made it onto the top league ranking. With the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Hamburg can decorate itself for the second time with the best hotel in Germany.
