On the evening of December 31, 2021, the counters were stopped. The Tesla Model 3 finishes first of the best-selling electric cars in France. But what about the rest of the ranking? Here are the 60 best-selling models.
The automotive data specialist, AAA DATA, has just provided us with the list of the 60 best-selling electric cars in France. This ranking is interesting in more than one way.
First, according to Autoways, the French new vehicle motor vehicle market recorded 1,659,146 registrations in 2021. This is + 0.5% compared to 2020 (1,650,186 registrations), but the market was down 25.48% in 2020 compared to 2019. In short, the automotive market is far from being out of the crisis. After the pandemic, it suffered the full brunt of the semiconductor crisis.
But, what must nevertheless be highlighted is that despite the 7.6% drop in new car registrations by individuals in all categories, new registrations of 100% electric vehicles continued to take off with growth of 46.1% to reach 9.8% market share (6.7% in 2020). Those of plug-in hybrids recorded an 88.9% increase and 8.5% market share (4.5% in 2020).
Tesla takes its place, with its sedan, ahead of 100% electric city cars
Among the 100% electric cars, the Tesla Model 3 takes the lead in the ranking, ahead of electric city cars (Zoé, e-208 and Spring). Unsurprisingly, Tesla’s sedan has repeatedly found itself at the top of the rankings, month after month, it was even the best-selling car in Europe in September.
What is interesting with this ranking is the presence of the Spring so high. However, the car was marketed late in the year, but it had already taken 1st place in November. Note also the presence of the ID.4, the EV6 or even the Model Y, these models should be very present at the top of the rankings at the start of 2022. They were marketed in the second part of the year 2021 and have despite everything, recorded good sales performance.
