The next series Star Wars finally has a release date! Fans of the saga imagined by George Lucas will once again be able to travel to a galaxy far, far away with The Acolytethe new series which arrives on the Disney+ streaming platform on June 5.
A bad omen
While waiting to discover the first images of The Acolytewhich should arrive this Tuesday evening, Disney+ is increasing the excitement of its subscribers with a rather disastrous first poster.
The series takes place in the era of the High Republic, a period during which the Jedi Order was at the height of its glory. But as this poster, which shows a bloody lightsaber, indicates, things are scorching for the Jedi Knights.
In The Acolytean investigation into a series of disturbing crimes leads to a face-off between a respected Jedi Master, played by Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), and a dangerous warrior from her past played by Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give). As more and more clues surface, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal that all is not what it seems.

The series, created by Leslye Headland (Russian doll), consists of eight episodes in which we will also see Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), Rebecca Henderson (Russian Doll), Dean-Charles Chapman (Game Of Thrones), Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story) and Carrie-Ann Moss (Matrix).
What other series Star Wars is expected this year?
If The Acolyte takes place during the final days of the High Republic, 100 years before the start of the Skywalker Saga, another series Star Wars planned for Disney+ in 2024 will take place after the events of Return of the Jedi and the defeat of the Empire.
Skeleton Crewwith Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts) headlining, will tell the adventures of a group of teenagers lost in the galaxy, and promises “a galactic take on the classic Amblin Studios adventure films of the 80s”.
Not much else is known about the series, other than that it should arrive on Mickey’s House streaming platform by the fall. We hope to learn more about it during Star Wars Day which will take place on May 4 (May the Fourth).
Until then, keep an eye on this corner of the galaxy, because the first trailer for The Acolyte will be revealed today.
