(Boursier.com) – Surprising rise in inflation in the euro zone in December! According to preliminary data from Eurostat, the annual inflation rate in the region is estimated at 5% for the month, against 4.9% in November and 4.8% expected by the market. A record level after the already historic one in November. Regarding the main components of inflation, energy should experience the highest annual rate in December (26%, compared to 27.5% in November), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (3, 2%, compared to 2.2% in November), industrial goods excluding energy (2.9%, compared to 2.4% in November) and services (2.4%, compared to 2.7% in November ).

Annual core inflation should remain at 2.6%, against + 2.5% consensus.
