Apple fans will have to be patient. According to recent rumors, it could be that the marketing of Apple Vision Prothe mixed reality headset simmered by the iPhone maker, is delayed.

Officially, Apple announced that its latest gadget would arrive “early 2024” and the company probably did well to remain vague. While many were banking on a release of the Apple Vision Pro in January 2024, it seems that Apple’s VR/AR headset is instead planned for a release in March 2024. And its marketing will take place very slowly, with an arrival in Europe even later, Bloomberg believes.

Last minute worries

It therefore seems that Apple is banking on a “late” release at the start of the year in order to resolve the last few problems surrounding its device. We already knew that the headset was at the heart of many production problems, particularly around its Oled screen and the lenses that accompany it. A few weeks before the new year, the company is still making last minute adjustments to the headset itself and its distribution strategy.

Videos unearthed in the latest beta version of visionOS however suggested that the release of the accessory was close, the tutorials for use and first configuration usually being published towards the end of the development process. But it seems that Apple is offering itself a few more weeks of respite in order to offer the most impeccable experience possible.

Big ambitions at Apple

It must be said that the company’s ambitions regarding this gadget are quite high. Presented as the new computing “revolution” of the decade, the Vision Pro will have a price of $3,499 at launch. Given the price, the firm has no right to make a mistake. To provide excellent customer service and ensure that everyone benefits from the best possible experience, the headset will only be available in Apple Stores, and by appointment moreover.

It must be said that, unlike the iPhone, the Vision Pro is not designed as a “universal” product. Depending on the head size and vision defects of customers, an appropriate helmet model will need to be offered. Apple will therefore have to have numerous references in stock to meet everyone’s demand.

The release of the headset, first in the United States and then in Europe and the rest of the world, will also allow the company to assess demand and potentially adjust its distribution strategy. The reputation of a $3 trillion company is at stake.
