The Armory of MW2 and Warzone 2 is about to change


The Armory gives players more flexibility on weapon customization in Multiplayer and Warzone battle royale. Now, it’s getting a major overhaul in Modern Warfare 2.

The next Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 2, is expected to revolutionize the CoD license in several ways. It will notably be the first game in the franchise to have a two-year life cycle, instead of the usual one year. It’s also going to introduce a number of new features to the series.

The popularity of MW 2019 relied on realistic gameplay but also weapon customization options. However, the developers sought to create a much more polished system for MW2.

In Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward wants to offer players the “the most impactful customization possible for their weapons”with many more options and a wider range of features among the accessories.

These changes come in the form of two major new features: Platforms and Attachment Tuning. Here’s how it works.

Platforms

Platforms is a new feature that allows players to unlock new weapons as variations of a basic rifle/pistol.

Infinity Ward explained it like this: “You start playing with the initial version of the weapon, which can be an assault rifle, a submachine gun. Then from that weapon you later unlock in a tree the variants, a sort of family tree of weapons. All of these weapons have both unique attachments and others shared between these weapons.

As you play and upgrade your arsenal, you’ll build yourself an array of unique weapons, allowing you to blur the lines between a submachine gun and an assault rifle, for example.

Attachment Tuning

Accessory customization is another new feature in the Armory, described as a “game within a game”.

Once you’ve leveled up a gun, you can start customizing each attachment, changing the weapon’s positives and negatives as you make modifications.

It’s worth noting that Infinity Ward emphasized how important it is that you can’t just max out weapons or attachments to become overpowered. This is because an upgrade can result in a loss on another weapon stat: every buff comes with a nerf, so to speak.

There are approximately 5 levels of adjustment available on each accessory. For the moment, everything has not yet been revealed. We will have more details on how this works in the coming months.

The Armory marked a huge change in Call of Duty when it was introduced. It will be interesting to see what the Armory will look like in Modern Warfare 2 and how far you can customize your classes.
