The autonomy of the electric Polestar 2 which arrives in France increases thanks to these new features

Polestar, the brand of the Chinese group Geely (Lotus, Volvo, Zeekr, etc.) is finally arriving in France, from 2025. The Polestar 2, the brand’s first 100% electric car, has just been updated for its model year 2025. On the program: increased autonomy, and a slightly revised design. Be careful though, the price will increase as a result.

Polestar’s electric cars will finally arrive in France, from 2025, after they had already been available for several years in the rest of Europe. At issue: a legal battle with Citroën over the brand’s logo. But that’s all ancient history. In France, from 2025, we will therefore be able to buy the Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.

The brand’s first electric car, the Polestar 2, underwent a technical metamorphosis in 2023, with the arrival of new versions and batteries. Enough to increase autonomy. The new 2025 model year improves the proposition even further, as we can read in the press release.

A (slight) increase in autonomy

In terms of autonomy, the LG battery with a capacity of 69 kWh increases to 70 kWh (and comes from CATL) for the Standard Range Single motor version. Enough to increase the theoretical autonomy from 532 to 554 km on the WLTP mixed cycle. In the Long Range version, no battery change, which remains at 82 kWh, but the range increases from 654 to 659 km.

On the design side, we note the appearance of two new colors, and especially the arrival of new 19-inch rims that are more aerodynamic, for autonomy, as well as a new design for the 20-inch rims. Enough to give the car a little facelift without changing the bodywork.

Rising prices (too)

The bad news is that these new features increase the price of this electric car. In Belgium, prices go from 44,990 euros to 47,690 euros.

In France, the prices are not yet known. There is no point in hoping to have access to the ecological bonus, because for the moment, the Polestars are produced in China. A factory should however open in the United States, but it is a safe bet that production will be reserved for North America.
