Known for having played the character of Kimiko Miyashiro in the series “The Boys”, or even Katana in the film “Suicide Squad” by David Ayer, actress Karen Fukuhara revealed on Instagram that she was attacked in the middle of the street on Wednesday.
According to the 30-year-old, she was about to walk into a Los Angeles cafe when a man punched her in the back of her head. “I was walking to get a coffee at this establishment and a man hit me on the back of the head. And this without warning. We hadn’t met our eyes before, I wasn’t doing anything in particular. I was totally surprised and my hat flew off. When I turned around, the man was a few meters further (he had to continue walking after hitting me)”, can we read.
Karen Fukuhara accompanied her message with the hashtag #StopAsianHate (stop hatred against Asians, editor’s note). “This stuff needs to stop. Women, Asians, the elderly need your help,” she adds. According to the actress, many people around her are not aware of the acts of hatred that can be perpetrated every day, and she wishes through this message to draw their attention to this phenomenon.
Karen Fukuhara admits to having thought of confronting her attacker, before telling herself that it was not worth it. However, she plans to take self-defense classes in the future. She also said she was relieved that her attacker was unarmed. “What satisfaction do attackers get from attacking women, Asians, or the elderly? They must be held responsible for their actions,” she adds.
His colleagues from the series The Boys showed their support following the publication of his message, in particular Chace Crawford, who plays the man-fish, Jack Quaid, the interpreter of Hugh Campbell in the series, and Laz Alonso. “It annoys me. I would have liked to be there”, explained the latter.
