The Callisto Protocol: sales are not good for Krafton

The Callisto Protocol is the first game of Striking Distance Studiosdirected by Glen Schofield, the co-creator of dead space. He is no stranger to the video game world, and the title is published by Kraftona publisher who deals in particular with PUBG. As saying that business expectations were high.

As a reminder, The Callisto Protocol had been presented as a game YYYYin the universe of PUBG. Eventually, he broke away from it for more creative freedom, but Krafton still shelled out more than 200 billion won (about 150 million euros) to produce the survival horror. One month after the launch, the editor takes stock and he is rather disappointed.

I have to say that Krafton hoped to sell five million copies of The Callisto Protocol in its first year, but the publisher is lowering its hopes and now wants to sell two million copies in 2023, even if he admits that it will not be easy. Yes, it’s a hell of a disappointment for Kraftonwhich does not give any sales figures at the moment, but they clearly must not be good.

Despite its qualities, The Callisto Protocol suffered from a complicated launch on PC due to technical issues, but the editor hopes that future DLCs of the game will encourage new players to buy it. At least, if the image of Striking Distance Studios improves by then, and if the remake of dead space don’t steal the show.

You can find The Callisto Protocol at €42.99 on Amazon.
