In the report on sexual abuse within the Catholic Church just published by a Munich law firm, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is specifically implicated. Between 1977 and 1982, when he was the archbishop of the city, Joseph Ratzinger would have covered priests who had repeatedly been guilty of sexual abuse of children and adolescents.
The 1,900-page report provides a damning inventory. Between 1945 and 2019, 235 churchmen allegedly committed sexual assaults in the archdiocese of the capital of pious and conservative Bavaria, where Benedict XVI is from.
