Apple Music’s Voice subscription has been quietly removed by Apple. No official reason has been given, but there are some indications that it was for the best.
While all music streaming services tend to see their prices increase, others are removing certain offers. This is the case of Apple Music with its Voice subscription, unavailable after two years of good and loyal service.
Apple Music subscription dedicated to Siri removed
It is 01net who spotted the change in Apple Music’s price list. Among the subscriptions, one is missing: Voice. If the Wayback Machine is to be believed, it appears that the offer disappeared on November 1st. This is what Apple confirms on a Canadian support page.
The company says it turns off auto-renewal for existing subscribers. They will benefit from Voice until the end of their last billing cycle. On their latest bill, a notification will appear with more information. Obviously, Apple encourages them to switch to another plan. As for those who had a free trial period, it will continue until it expires. Then, a single billing cycle can be exercised.
Too many limitations and not enough success?
Arriving in December 2021, the idea was to offer a subscription at 4.99 euros per month: an affordable price, but an offer with concessions. Everything then went through Siri, Apple’s voice assistant. You launch songs and playlists with your voice, without using the music streaming application.
The limitations were significant: you couldn’t create a playlist or choose the reading order. No spatial or quality audio lossless neither. In terms of features, some were missing: impossible to access lyrics and clips. Fortunately, Voice allowed access to the entire catalog of the application. Luckily, we didn’t have to cut the music or play the track: the player was displayed on our device.
