Did you know ? Liar is an adaptation of the Quebec film Liar by Emile Gaudreault, released in 2019. It was Gaumont who submitted this project to Olivier Baroux. Seduced by the original film, the director immediately accepted the proposal.

Did you know ? Dominik Moll chose to set the plot of his film in Grenoble and in the Maurienne valley. The director says: “I wanted to feel the mountains. Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is a fairly industrialized town, there is an aluminum factory, Trimet, which employs 700 people.”

What is it about ? Iran 2001, a journalist from Tehran dives into the most disreputable suburbs of the holy city of Mashhad to investigate a series of feminicides. These crimes would be the work of a single man, who claims to purify the city of its sins, by attacking prostitutes at night.
Did you know ? Serial killer Saeed is played by Mehdi Bajestani, a theater and film actor. Ali Abbasi wanted to hire an actor whose background was – in part – similar to that of his character: “Mehdi comes from the Mashhad region and knows how to adopt the same popular accent as Saeed. Besides, he is a great actor, ready to try things that are taboo in Iran.”

Did you know ? If Woody Allen’s last films took place in his favorite city, New York, his fiftieth production took place at the San Sebastián Festival in Spain. A country in which he had already set up his cameras in 2008 for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, before venturing to Paris and Rome.

Did you know ? Maximiliano Schonfeld went through two bereavements that inspired him to Jesús López. The first is the death of his father, whose clothes were then worn by his mother’s successive companions. The second concerns the death of Miguel Lell, actor of his first short films who died at the age of 21 in a car accident.
