The Swiss Alpines win two more medals at the Olympic Games in Beijing. The combination has already been in Swiss hands for women at major events in recent years. In Yanqing, Michelle Gisin won the gold medal ahead of her teammate Wendy Holdener.

Gisin had already triumphed in the combination four years ago in Pyeongchang, Holdener won bronze at the time. Holdener, on the other hand, defeated her teammate at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships, where she became world champion in this category.

The two Swiss women were only 0.01 seconds apart in Yanqing after the descent. In the slalom, however, Gisin distanced her teammate by more than a second. However, Gisin and Holdener also benefited from Mikaela Shiffrin’s renewed mishap. After the special slalom, the giant slalom, the American also retired from the combination slalom.
