Organic: the deconversion rate could reach 5% in 2021 (Agence bio)
In 2021, according to provisional figures from the organic agency published exclusively on January 21 in Agra Weekly Press, nearly 4% of converted farms would have left organic. “It’s a weak signal that we are watching carefully,” sums up Laure Verdeau, director of the Agence bio. Market gardening and viticulture follow , with 325 and 280 stops respectively. The certification stops could be explained mainly by retirements, but the situation in several sectors could also push more operators to leave. “We are in a delicate situation with studies that point to a glass ceiling among consumers,” worries Étienne Gangneron, vice-president of the FNSEA in charge of organic.
