A little Birmingham accent in the galaxy? In any case, that’s all we can hope for, since Steven Knight, the creator of the famous series Peaky Blinderswill be writing the next film in the Star Wars franchise.

Bye bye Damon Lindelof

Steven Knight, also author of the series Rogue Heroes (available on Canal+) and films spencer And Lockejoins the galaxy far, far away to write the script for the upcoming Star Wars movie directed by Sharmmen Obaid-Chinoy (Miss Marvel). He replaces original screenwriters Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers, watch men) and Justin Britt-Gibson (The Strain), who therefore left the project.

If no information has yet been revealed on this Star Wars currently untitled, we should learn more next month with the Star Wars Celebration in London (from April 7 to 10), and during Star Wars Day on May 4.

The future of the Star Wars saga is still very nebulous, and we recently learned that the film projects directed by Patty Jenkins (wonder woman) and Kevin Feige had presumably been cancelled.

Star Wars, Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is to date the last film in the saga released in cinemas.

If Disney and Lucasfilm have indeed blocked the date of December 19, 2025 for the release of a next Star Wars film still “untitled”, no project has to date officially received the green light. In addition to the film written by Steven Knight, we know that Lucasfilm has several projects in the pipeline, including that of Taika Waititi (jojo rabbit, Thor: Love and Thunder), and Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi, At Knives Out).

As a reminder, no film from the galactic franchise has been released in theaters since December 2019 and Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

All of the films in the saga can be found on the Disney+ streaming platform, as well as the many series in the universe such as The Mandalorian, Star Wars: Visions or the excellent Andor.
