“The Crown” season 6 will be released in two parts. Episodes 1 to 4 will appear on November 16, 2023, and episodes 5 to 10 will also be available on Netflix on December 14, 2023. So perfect for the pre-Christmas season!

The 6th season of “The Crown” is divided into two parts – also in terms of content. The first trailer for the final season therefore only focuses on the first four episodes, in which Diana is the focus.

Screenwriter Peter Morgan revealed to the online magazine Deadline that it will be in the 6th season no time jump will exist and therefore takes place in the same time as season 5. So we will follow the events surrounding the royal family from 1997 to 2005, during the term of Prime Minister Tony Blair (Bertie Carvel).

Prince Charles actor Dominic West also hinted in an interview with Deadline that we should be prepared for “turbulent” events in the final season. This is hardly surprising, as the tragic death of Princess Diana will be discussed in the coming episodes.

Morgan has already made it clear that we will not see the fatal accident in concrete terms, but the consequences of the tragedy will be examined in more detail. The plot will also show more of the events surrounding Prince William and Kate Middleton as well as Prince Harry.

It was also revealed in a new picture that we will see Prince Charles’ second wedding, in which he takes Camilla Parker Bowles as his wife.

Part 1 will address the relationship between Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Al-Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) as well as Diana’s tragic car accident. The character of Prince William is portrayed by two different actors. Rufus Kampa will portray William as a teenager, while Ed McVey will play him as a young adult and at the beginning of his relationship with Kate Middleton. Prince Harry, on the other hand, will be taken over by newcomer Will Powell. Newcomer Meg Bellamy will take on the role of young Kate.

The Crown: Production of Season 6

The series makers initially planned to end the series with the 5th season. In July 2020, series creator Peter Morgan changed his mind again and announced that the series would only end after season 6.

In an interview with Deadline, Morgan explained that this decision was made to “do justice to the richness and complexity of the story.” In addition, the plan at the very beginning was to cover the story in 6 seasons and so we simply went back to the original plan. The fans will definitely be happy about this change of plans, as they will ultimately get an additional season of “The Crown”.
