The Czech Republic is sticking to deportations to Afghanistan

Every asylum application is examined individually, said Interior Minister Jan Hamacek on Friday the online edition of the newspaper “MF Dnes”. The Social Democrat emphasized that there would be no blanket regulations for applicants from the Central Asian country. Other EU countries such as Germany, France and Denmark have temporarily suspended their deportations to Afghanistan.

The Czech Foreign Ministry ordered an emergency meeting for Saturday to discuss the security situation of the country’s embassy in Kabul. The question of how Afghan local staff who had worked as interpreters for Czech NATO forces can be helped is currently also being clarified. According to media reports, this is primarily about financial support, but visas could also be issued in individual cases.
