Many Samsung phones will receive a major update with new features tomorrow. The rollout is scheduled to start on March 28th. We’ll tell you what will change as a result.

- Samsung will roll out the Galaxy AI update for numerous cell phones starting March 28th.
- The South Korean manufacturer’s premium smartphones from 2023 will be able to enjoy this.
- The Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets also receive the update.
With the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung introduced Galaxy AI. An artificial intelligence (AI) that translates phone calls, edits images and takes on many other tasks for you. When the S24 was presented in mid-January, the South Korean manufacturer announced that it would also make the AI available on older models via an update. However, Samsung has so far only given the date for this as “the end of March”. Now the manufacturer gives an exact date: March 28th.
Then the Galaxy S23, S23+, S23 Ultra and S23 FE will receive the new firmware, as will the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 as well as the Tab S9 series tablets.
Galaxy AI is coming to other Samsung phones
After the update to One UI 6.1 you will then have access to the Galaxy AI. This offers you, among other things, the following functions:
- Interpreter: Galaxy AI translates speech into 13 languages in real time. An internet connection is not required for this.
- Edit pictures: Using Galaxy AI, you can move objects in images or remove annoying shadows and reflections from a photo.
- Transcribe audio recordings: You can have voice messages recorded with the phone’s audio recorder app transcribed by Galaxy AI.
- Summarize texts: The Galaxy AI summarizes longer documents or websites if you wish.
- Instant Slow Mo The feature generates additional frames for slow-motion videos to capture action-packed moments without having to take multiple shots.
However, to use Galaxy AI, you must have a Samsung account. You can create this for free. It is unclear whether the update contains any further innovations beyond the Galaxy AI – some seamless updates.
