However, the decision has been made: the government announced, this Thursday, April 22, 2021, the deconfinement strategy planned for the coming weeks. The 10 km travel limit will be lifted from the evening of May 2, 2021. We will therefore no longer need a certificate. However, no announcement regarding the curfew was made at first. Responding to journalists’ questions, Jean Castex then declared that he was maintained, for the moment: “The curfew is maintained until further notice. We will see in mid-May where the epidemic situation will be. We cannot lift it, that would not be prudent.”

  • Nursery and elementary schools will reopen on April 26, 2021: Jean Castex defended a choice “assumed “ and motivated by “catastrophic damage” both educational and psychological within these establishments.
  • High schools and colleges in half-gauge from May 3, 2021: middle and high school students will resume classes on April 26, 2021, and will be able to return to face-to-face classes from May 3, 2021, but “in half gauge”, for fourth and third year students of the fifteen departments most affected by the epidemic.
  • Shops, terraces and cultural places should reopen in mid-May: according to Jean Castex, the reopening of shops, restaurants and cultural places will be “progressive. ” Depending on the evolution of the epidemic, it will be possible in mid-May with “a lot of caution”, explained the Prime Minister. Details will be given “in the next few days”, the list of activities that will resume first has not yet been determined.
