“The discourse of the unvaccinated becomes unbearable for caregivers”, judges Professor Lapostolle on LCI

HEALTH CRISIS – While Emmanuel Macron’s remarks on the non-vaccinated have sparked a heated debate, Professor Frédéric Lapostolle, professor of emergency medicine at the Bobigny hospital, rather criticizes the speech of people refusing the vaccine.

He has “very want to piss them off”. In an interview with Parisian and published Tuesday evening, the President of the Republic attacked the unvaccinated, and assumes to continue to take measures against them “until the end”. Words that sparked strong reactions among the opposition, but were defended by members of the majority. Some caregivers were also not shocked by these words.

Covid-19: the challenge of vaccination

“The cornerstone of the strategy is vaccination”, recalls on LCI Professor Frédéric Lapostolle, professor of emergency medicine at the Bobigny hospital. “Without saying that the unvaccinated piss us off, what is clear is that the unvaccinated fill the resuscitation beds.”, he criticizes (see video at the top of this article). “Most of the problematic patients are unvaccinated. We have to do everything we can to get everyone vaccinated.”

The speech of some unvaccinated “is psychologically unbearable”

In the political arena, the tension has risen a notch since the words of the head of state. At the hospital too, “the tension is growing”, retorts Professor Lapostolle. “There is physical and psychological exhaustion among the medical and paramedical staff”, he assures. “Today we are in this situation in large part because the resuscitation beds are occupied by unvaccinated patients.”

The professor of emergency medicine, who is “not shocked on the merits” in the words of Emmanuel Macron, especially deplores the words of some refractory to the vaccine. “There is a discourse of the unvaccinated which is becoming unbearable for caregivers”, he regrets. “Unvaccinated people say there is no wave, no sick. It’s just psychologically unbearable.”
