Almost 50 years ago "The Exorcist" blossomed into a real horror classic. Now a sequel is supposedly being planned.

Something stirs in the horror genre. As "The Observer" reports, fans of the classic "The Exorcist" can supposedly look forward to a sequel. Accordingly, the American film production company Blumhouse Productions is said to be working on a sequel in which "Halloween" director David Gordon Green (45) is said to be involved.

The two-time Oscar-winning original starring Linda Blair (61, "Hell Night") dates from 1973 and was staged by director William Friedkin (85). This last week already commented on the rumor that he was involved in a new "exorcist" project. On Twitter, he denied: "It's not a rumor, it's an outright lie." He wouldn't be ready for any money in the world. Friedkin did not deny in his tweet that a sequel to the horror film is actually being planned.

A new edition is also in the works

In August of this year, the American production company Morgan Creek announced a reboot of the horror classic. According to the "Deadline" it is planned that the new film will be released in 2021. There have been a number of projects in the past based on the material of the original film, such as the two sequels "Der Exorcist II – Der Ketzer" and "Der Exorcist III" or the prequels "Exorcist: The Beginning" and "Dominion : Exorcist – The Beginning of Evil ". However, a new edition of the 1973 classic would be a premiere.
