While thousands of hectares have already been destroyed by the two fires that are ravaging the region, a known and popular place has also gone up in smoke. The famous Flots Bleus campsite, where the three “Camping” films were shot, was completely destroyed, the prefecture announced. Founded in 1966, its original name was actually Camping de la Dune because of its location at the foot of the Dune du Pilat. Faced with the success of the first part of the saga, it had kept its new identity, taking advantage of a new wave of tourists who came to discover the place. But the establishment which at the beginning of July hoped according to France 2 to welcome more than 15,000 holidaymakers, is today struck by tragedy.

On RTL, Fabien Onteniente, director of the trilogy, shared his immense sadness at the end of the day on Monday. “I am devastated by this tragedy. I am devastated not only for the Flots Bleus campsite, moreover, since there are five campsites around. There is that of a friend, who was right next door, who was in tears this afternoon”, he commented, referring in particular to the other campsites in the same area, also destroyed. Present in the region with the star of the saga, Frank Dubosc, he gave a chilling testimony: “We saw these thick black smoke, obviously we prayed that our campsite would not be affected but last night I saw the wind turn. “. The actor also reacted. On Twitter and Instagram, he posted a photo of his legendary character with the caption: “Today Patrick is crying…”. He had words of support for his “camper, Girondin and firefighter friends” promising: “We will rebuild our campsite!”
