This Wednesday, May 24, the CW broadcast the final episode of “The Flash”. The last series of the Arrowverse bowed out after 9 years of good and loyal service on the occasion of an epic finale.

After 9 seasons on the air, The Flash bowed out this Wednesday, May 24 on the CW. And in this epic final episode, which also marks the end of the Arrowverse, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) had to face Cobalt Blue, the last great villain of the DC Comics series.
In addition to offering a worthy conclusion to the characters of The Flash, this episode also brought back many familiar faces, much to the delight of fans.
Cobalt Blue brings the bad guys back to life
Thanks to the Negative Speed Force, Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett) managed to resurrect four great villains from Barry’s past: Savitar, Zoom (Teddy Sears), Godspeed (Karan Oberoi) and Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanagh).
Returns that do not necessarily worry the Flash team, which will very quickly succeed in defeating them. Each member of the team will indeed fight one-on-one with one of the villains from previous seasons.
Cecile (Danielle Nicolet) goes to face Godspeesd, XS (Jessica Parker Kennedy) manages to beat Savitar while Allegra (Kayla Cherie Compton) takes care of Reverse-Flash. After the latter’s defeat, Team Flash realizes the real reason Cobalt Blue resurrected them. He managed to absorb the speed of the defeated villains.
Unfortunately, Eddie’s plan will bring about his own downfall, due to the superspeed overdose. Wanting to avoid this sad outcome, Barry enters the Negative Speed Force in order to fight Cobalt Blue.
Following Khione’s advice, Barry dissuades Cobalt Blue from carrying out his plan. By preventing a fight, the superhero manages to end his conflict with the Negative Speed Force. By convincing Eddie Thawne to keep his avatar role, Barry managed to strike a balance between the two Speed Forces.
Despite Barry’s best efforts, Eddie Thawne isn’t necessarily ready to put his resentment aside. If he says he is happy with the end of their fight, he still blames Barry for stealing his life. Before leaving, he promises the superhero that they’re not always going to get along, hinting that there will always be a rivalry with Barry Allen.
Caitlin Snow is back
Eddie Thawne isn’t the only character to get a second chance in this final episode. After the battle against Cobalt Blue, Khione ascends to a higher level of existence and becomes a goddess. Leaving Earth, she allows Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) to regain control of her body. Dr. Caitlin Snow can therefore rejoin the Flash team.
A birth and an engagement
This final episode is also the scene of the long-awaited birth of Nora. A moment charged with emotions, which is followed by a marriage proposal. While they are celebrating this birth, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) indeed asks for Cecile’s hand, who accepts without any hesitation.
The Legacy of The Flash
In the final moments of the episode, Barry Allen reveals that he has decided to share his connection to the Speed Force with three other people. In an effort to create a better world, he selects individuals who will become the new speedsters.
He chooses Avery Ho (played by Piper Curda), whom Team Flash met in Season 8 when she played Bart Allen’s potential love interest, Max Mercury (Trevor Carroll), whose existence was hinted at in Season 8, and Jess Chambers (Hana Destiny Huggins), a new Arrowverse character.
