The game Detective Pikachu 2 is obviously still alive

During the movie Pokemon Detective Pikachu invaded cinemas, The Pokémon Company made a big splash with a feature film that brought in enough dollars to revive interest around the basic game, failing to hope for a second film. So it’s no great surprise that a few weeks after the film’s release, we learned that a Detective Pikachu 2 (this is the name we will give it for now) was in the works for the Nintendo Switch, but since more news. Rest assured, the project seems to be still relevant.

We’re investigating

It was via a recruitment site for Creatures (the studio behind the first game) that VGC spotted this, since we see the profile of a programmer there, responding to the name of kt, indicate on his profile that he is working on the sequel to Detective Pikachu. In this post, he also mentions the studio’s interest in new technologies, be it ray-tracing, DLSS, Unreal Engine 5 and others. Obviously, these technologies should not be used on Switch, but the ambition is there.

If no details on the game itself are available on this announcement, as one might suspect, this is the first time we have heard of the project for years, proof that it is still in development. Remember that this new Detective Pikachu is a direct sequel to the first, only for the Nintendo Switch.
