The German Comedy Prize 2020: The nominations have been made

"The German Comedy Prize" will be awarded by viewers for the first time in 2020. The audience can choose their favorites via online voting.

"The German Comedy Award" has two new features in store for 2020: On the one hand, the award ceremony, which will be broadcast live from Cologne on October 2 at 8:15 pm, will not be shown on RTL for the first time in 21 years, but on Sat.1. And on the other hand, no expert jury will decide on the winners this year. It is entirely up to the audience who will be honored on that evening. The public can vote on this now on the official homepage.

Those responsible have already made a preselection: a total of 31 nominations from nine different categories are available to voters. Last year's winner Carolin Kebekus (40) with her new "Die Carolin Kebekus Show" (Das Erste) has been nominated in the "Best Comedy Show" category. Other public service productions in this category are "Chez Krömer" (RBB) and the "World Wide Living Room" (Funk). There are also the shows "Can he do that? The Chris Tall Show" from RTL and "Luke! The Great Night Show" from Sat.1. There are only public service nominations in the category "Best Satire Show" with the "heute-show" (ZDF), "Mann, Sieber!" (ZDF) and "Not yet shift" (3sat) by Sebastian Pufpaff (43).

"Best Comedian" and "Best Comedian" separated again

There are three Joyn productions in the "Best Comedy Series" category: "Ms. Jordan equals", "Jerks" and "Slavik – Auf Staats Nacken". The prizes for "Best Comedian" will again be awarded separately after the gender segregation in the divisions was last lifted. Here the winner of 2019, Luke Mockridge (31), competes against Chris Tall (29) and Felix Lobrecht (31). Carolin Kebekus, Martina Hill (46) and Hazel Brugger (26), who was named "Best Newcomer" in 2017, are nominated for women. "Best Newcomer", however, is summarized as one category. Maria Clara Groppler, Simon Pearce and Simon Stäblein compete here.

The two categories "Best Comedy Podcast" and "Best Moderation" are completely new. "Baywatch Berlin", "Fest & Fluschig" and "Mixed Hack" enter the race in the podcast category. Oliver Pocher (42) has a chance of winning the prize as the best presenter for the RTL show "5 gegen Jauch". His competition: Luke Mockridge ("LUKE! The school and me – VIPs against kids", Sat.1) and Ralf Schmitz (45, "Take Me Out", RTL).
