Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for the Digital Transition, is launching an anti-attack plan for SMEs scheduled for 2023.
The Minister Delegate for the Digital Transition, Jean-Noël Barrot, announced Wednesday in Rennes a series of measures to create a “cyber shield» aimed in particular at SMEs and local authorities, for an envelope of 30 million euros. “We want to strengthen these SMEs and ETIs [entreprise de taille intermédiaire] which, because they are too small to have in-house cyber experts, can represent a weak link and during an attack contaminate their stakeholders, customer or supplier“, estimated Jean-Noël Barrot during a press conference on the occasion of the “European Cyber Week“.
“As you know, attacks, including on large groups which can be very paralyzing for the country, do not always come from the large group itself.“, he added. This plan for 2023 of 30 million euros, which is added to the 20 million euros announced after the attack that targeted the Corbeil-Essonnes hospital this summer, includes several components. An anti-scam filter can be installed on the browser or on a smartphone which will be a “first approach protection“. “We want our fellow citizens to be able to see their data protected on sites which are not scam sites, which are sites of private or public operators, but which may themselves be the target of cyberattacks and therefore which may term produce to data release“, he specified. For companies, a free self-diagnosis tool will be developed. In addition, for 750 SMEs and ETIs, the cyber shield will offer an audit and implementation of solutions and training. For local authorities, which are affected by cyberattacks, as evidenced by those that targeted Guingamp, Caen or the Seine-Maritime department this year, the plan will allow the extension of reinforced security routes for 125 of them and new routes for another 50. By the end of 2023, more than 1,000 communities and administrations will have followed this security course.

Finally, for all municipalities, including the smallest, a platform of shared services will be offered, with a tool “turnkey“on the basis of a subscription where the State allows communities to benefit from a domain name, messaging and secure online hosting. The question of cybersecurity “grows considerably», touching «all dimensions of the economic and social life of the Nation“, with almost every week”particularly spectacular attacks“, recalled Jean-Noël Barrot.
