On Wednesday January 26, journalist Jihane Benzina gives details on the 1 p.m. set. For several years, the prize list had not known many changes. In girlsis the first name Louisa which has been at the top of the charts for some time. But against all expectations, this year, it’s the turn of the first name Jade. Jade is therefore, unsurprisingly, followed by the first names Louise and Emma. Among the boys, Leo took first place on the podium, dethroning Gabriel, who had held the lead since 2014.
Certain exceptions depending on the region
This list also revealed the trendiest first names by region. Because yes, the first name Léo and the first name Jade are not the most trendy in all regions of France. There are exceptions. The first name Léo is at the top of the charts in France, with the exception of Brittany, Normandy, Ile de France and Corsica. Indeed, in Brittany it is the first name Arthur which is in the lead. In Normandy, it is the first name Raphaël. In Ile de France it is first name Adam and in Corsica it is the first name Andria.
Trend series are increasingly inspiring parents to name their children. Original first names are emerging more and more. In the series Games of Thrones, we find the first name Khaleezy. In Normandy, a baby was even named Lisbon, which may be a reference to the Casa Del Papel series in which the characters bear the names of cities. Don’t forget compound names. In 2021, the compound names that have been assigned are mostly very original. We can find Alpha-Kabinet, Précieux-Patrick or Divin-Steeve.
