According to the IPCC, a livable future is possible if the world decides to act. But the world still has a chance to avoid the worst by radically transforming the economy. Because without a reduction “fast, radical and most often immediate” greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors, it will not be possible to limit warming to +1.5°C compared to the pre-industrial era, or even to +2°C. Ukraine: after Boutcha, Westerners want investigations into “war crimes”. Westerners have called for investigating the “war crimes” attributed to Russian soldiers in the Kyiv region, totally denied by Moscow but qualified as “genocide” by Ukraine. Regulars are also signatories of the call, like Annie Ernaux, Yvan Le Bolloc’h and Robert Guédiguian, who had already announced that they support the candidate of the Union Populaire.
Fourth triumphal coronation for Orban in Hungary. Hungarian sovereigntist leader Viktor Orban won a fourth victory in a row on Sunday, much more easily than expected, after legislative elections in the shadow of the war in Ukraine. At 58, the oldest incumbent leader of the European Union (EU) faced an unprecedented and disparate alliance of six parties, determined to fight “authoritarianism” and “corruption” 12 years of the Orban era.
The government postpones the meeting with the elected officials of Corsica because of the violence. “The conditions for a normalized dialogue were hardly met”, according to the entourage of Gérald Darmanin. The meeting planned for April 8 in Paris between Corsican elected officials and the government on the institutional future of the island has been postponed due to the violence that occurred on Sunday during the demonstration in support of the family of Yvan Colonna.
