In April 2020, in full confinement, Apple TV subscribers discovered The Jacob Barber affaira legal mini-series of 8 episodes carried by Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery and Jaeden Martell. And almost four years later, it is the turn of TF1 viewers to discover this program. The channel is in fact broadcasting the first 3 episodes of this fiction this Wednesday March 6 from 9:10 p.m.
For the occasion, Chris Evans put away the Captain America costume to take on that of Andy Barber, a assistant prosecutor from a small town in Massachusetts. The latter will be confronted with a terrible dilemma when his own 14-year-old son is accused of murdering a classmate. But while he tries to exonerate his boy, the prosecutor will discover certain secrets that could call everything into doubt. He will then find himself facing an insoluble dilemma between his duty to defend justice and his unconditional love for his son.

The Jacob Barbe affairr is adapted from the novel of the same name by the American writer William Landay published in 2012. Before becoming a successful author, the latter was in fact a prosecutor in Massachusetts for seven years, just like the character played by Chris Evans. And it was when he became a father that he had the idea of writing a book. He thus became interested in the nightmare of all parents: that their own child is involved in a murder case. He also spoke about the idea for his novel during an interview conducted by his publishing house, Random House. “Defending Jacob allowed me to link two parts of my life: that of criminal law and that of raising my children in an uneventful suburb.”the author explained.
