The Kunsthaus must have the books

The expansion of the Kunsthaus leads to higher costs. With the new subsidy contract from the city of Zurich, public contributions will be increased. In return, the city announces a few wishes.

The exhibition space of the Kunsthaus Zürich has almost doubled as a result of the expansion; this increases the operating costs: Two visitors in front of Edgar Degas’ picture “Ludovic Lepic and his daughters” from the Bührle Collection.

Corine Mauch was cautious in the fall. She could well imagine the documentation room for the Bührle Collection in the new Kunsthaus to be “a little less dry”, said the Mayor of Zurich when criticism was raised after the opening of the new building. Today, the city expresses itself much more clearly when it comes to the way in which the history of the Bührle Collection and the arms manufacturer and collector Emil Georg Bührle should be brought closer to the public.
