The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered: This is how the inexpensive upgrade of your PS4 version works

• The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will be released on January 19th.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will be released exclusively for the PS5 on January 19th. Owners of a PS4 version have the option to upgrade to the remastered version for $10 (around 9.15 euros).

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the development studio has now announced details about this upgrade option. According to Naughty Dog, the upgrade option will be available in the PS Store once The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is officially released.

As a result, you should be able to find this option in the PS Store from January 19th. However, a specific period for this is not yet known.

If you have a disc copy of the game for the PS4, you should note that the upgrade only works with a PS5 with a disc drive. You also have to insert the PS4 disc into the PS5 every time you want to download or play the digital PS5 version.

Transferring your scores

In addition, Naughty Dog has already confirmed in the comments under the X post that you can import your saves from the original title into the new game.

This means you can experience the new features such as 4K and VRR directly in your existing save game without starting a new run first. Before January 19th, however, you should make sure that there is enough storage space available on your PS5 so that you can download the title without any problems.
