Who is this mysterious stranger fallen from the sky? Where did the evil sword discovered by young Theo come from? Who is Adar, the leader of the Orcs in the Southlands?
Broadcast on Amazon Prime Video since September 2, the series The Rings of Power, adapted from the work of JRR Tolkien, has already raised many questions among fans, who hastened to relaunch the prediction machine.
Among the big questions of these first three episodes, the origin of the strange mark of Sauron caused a lot of ink to flow.
This enigmatic form – seen on the body of Finrod, in the lands of the North, then on the blade of the famous evil sword – has indeed inspired several theories. One of them, arguably the most popular and interesting, was recently validated by a scene from Episode 3.
This theory, which had been developed in particular by the Youtube channel of Nerd of the Ringswas based on the principle that the mark of Sauron, turned horizontally, represented a map of the territory where the lord of darkness wished to install his future kingdom: Mordor.
A hypothesis which was therefore confirmed when Galadriel and Elendil went to the great library of Nùmenor to do research on the famous mark. Searches that turned out to be quick and successful:
“I’ve been blind. It’s not a symbol, it’s a map of the Southern Lands”exclaimed the Elf after consulting the sketch drawn by a human spy, while he was imprisoned in an enemy dungeon.
As for the inscription that accompanied the symbol, Galadriel also managed to decipher it, evoking a much more worrying situation than expected:

“It’s black talk. It’s not just about a place, it’s about a plan. An elaborate plan to create a realm of their own, where evil can not only endure, but also thrive. A plan that must be executed if Morgoth is defeated, by his successor.”
A major revelation for the Rings of Power series, which should therefore soon tell us about the founding of Mordor, at the very place where Arondir is currently held prisoner.
