We mentioned it last Friday, from May 26 to 29, the Star Wars Celebration event was held, during which Disney did not skimp on the announcements. Regarding the projects already known, we learned for example the release date of the third season of the mandalorianwhich will land in the month of February 2023. In the spring of the same year will arrive the second season of the animated anthology Visions — one episode of which was produced by a French studio —, followed in the fall by the sequel to another anime, The Bad Batchwhich in passing offered a promising trailer.

A Stranger Things sauce Star Wars

But it was the novelties that particularly caught our attention during the convention. Star Wars. Recently announced, the series by Jon Watts and Chris Ford (the Spiderman with Tom Holland) now has a name: Skeleton Crew. It should start in 2023 with Jude Law at the top of the bill, and will take place at the same time as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. It will be a kind of Stranger Things with galactic sauce, since we will follow a group of children lost in space. On the sidelines of the event, producer Kathleen Kennedy also said in an interview that she was still in discussions with Donald Glover for a project around Lando Calrissian.

After Visions, Disney+ is not done with animated anthologies. Here is a much more exciting project, Tales of the Jedi. Scheduled for next fall, this series will focus each of its episodes on a specific character from the prelogy. Among them, we will find Count Dooku during his Jedi activities, Mace Windu, Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Qui-Gon Jinn. The opportunity to confirm the return of Liam Nesson to double the latter, which did not fail to delight the fans – the latter do not despair of seeing him in the series Obi-Wan Kenobicurrently streaming on Disney+.

Back to the origins of ILM

In the spring of 2023, the youngest will have the right to their own cartoon Star Wars, Young Jedi Adventures, which will take place during the time of the High Republic, centuries before the events of the prelogy, and will follow young apprentices in their training as future Jedi Knights. We are also looking forward to discovering, from July 27, the documentary series Light&Magicwhich will explore the genesis and development of ILM, the company founded in 1975 by George Lucas that has since become the most famous purveyor of cutting-edge special effects technology.
