The Mandalorian season 3: Will Moff Gideon return like a phoenix from the ashes?

The Mandalorian will continue in March 2023, and ahead of that actor Giancarlo Esposito announced that his character and fan-favorite Moff Gideon will be returning.

The season 2 finale saw the final encounter between Gideon and Din Djarin. The Mandalorian countered his opponent’s Darksaber with his Beskar Spear, defeating Gideon and saving Grogu.

But what happened to the follower of the Empire afterwards? Was he put in a republican prison or did he escape? The third season of “The Mandalorian”, which starts on March 1st, will provide us with answers. According to the official synopsis, Din Djarin and his foster son Grogu not only have to deal with new enemies there, but also with old ones.

Giancarlo Esposito promises Moff Gideon in season 3

In an interview with TV Line, Esposito revealed that we can expect a “good dose” of Moff Gideon in Season 3. His enthusiasm for the role, of which he wishes more appearances, was clearly evident.

Since the last season of The Mandalorian also introduced the next big villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn, it’s possible that Gideon will try to join him to once again serve the revived Empire under Thrawn.

However, it is also possible that after his failure and the failure of his dark troops, Gideon will be expelled from the Empire. So that he would have to fend for himself and is even more out for revenge on Din Djarin and his allies.

After such a bitter defeat and the theft of his spaceship by Bo Katan, the Moff will have a long time to recover. Maybe he will also forge new alliances or work on a new secret weapon.

In any case, one thing is certain. Moff Gideon will return in Season 3 and will once again face Din Djarin and Grogu. The only question is, with which outcome this time? Esposito wants his role to have a “phoenix-like rise from the ashes.” This would be spectacular to watch and a fitting comeback for one of the best villains of the current Star Wars era.
