The guessing starts again! "The Masked Singer" has started its fourth season. That was what the opening sequence had to offer.

The starting shot for the fourth season of "The Masked Singer" (live on ProSieben and on Joyn) has been fired. The rate show came up with a new mode to kick off. The candidates competed in two groups of five. The three celebrities from each group with the most votes automatically qualified for the next round. The two with the least voices had to tremble. In the end, it was decided from four stars who had to remove the mask.

The first group was made up of the dinosaur, leopard, chick, flamingo and monstronaut. The leopard, or rather the female leopard, sang its way to the fore with an almost flawless performance of the Bond track "Goldeneye" by Tina Turner (81). The advice team around Ruth Moschner (44) and Rea Garvey (47, "Hy Brasil"), which was supported by Councilor Carolin Kebekus (40), was certain: There was a professional singer under the costume. Moschner threw Sarah Connor (40) into the room. Kebekus guessed a member of the girl group No Angels.

The flamingo also knew how to convince with "Sway" by Michael Bublé (45). Here, however, the opinions on the advice team were divided: is it a man or a woman? The tips diverged accordingly. Names like Bill Kaulitz (31), Jorge González (53), Thomas Hayo (52) were mentioned. Only Kebekus thought of a woman. As expected, the female leopard did not have to tremble during the final audience vote. In addition, the dinosaur and the chick secured a ticket for the next round. To everyone's surprise, the flamingo became a wobbly candidate alongside the monstronaut.

An LSD trip and wild guessing

The second group was initially led solidly into the field by the bull. A pop singer? Or is it Lukas Podolski (35)? Or maybe Carsten Spengemann (48)? This was followed by the unicorn, which is often tonally wrong. The guesswork was wild: From Jenny Elvers (48) to Nora Tschirner (39) to Franziska van Almsick (42). Quokka also had its weaknesses when it came to singing. Here the guessing team guessed the mountain doctor Hans Sigl (51) or DJ Ötzi (50).

The pig then delivered "a complete LSD trip," according to Garvey. His conclusion was: "I think you're great!" The only tip from the advice team: Senta Berger (79). The turtle was a little bright spot with an atmospheric performance of "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins (70). Moschner dared a cautious advance towards Schlager and Florian Silbereisen (39). But the name Reinhold Beckmann (64) was mentioned.

The first mask falls

The audience waved the quokka, the turtle and the bull through to the next round. The unicorn and the pig joined the flamingo and the monstronaut as wobbly candidates. In the end, at least the audience called for the pig and the pig then had to reveal its identity. Sports presenter Katrin Müller-Hohenstein (55) was under the mask. Before that, the names Iris Berben (70), Maria Furtwängler (54) and again Senta Berger had been in the room.
