The Masked Singer: This is how Vicky Leandros thinks of Rea Garvey

Vicky Leandros was exposed as a cat on "The Masked Singer". A big surprise for Councilor Rea Garvey.

Singer Vicky Leandros ("I love life") just missed the "The Masked Singer" final. She was exposed as a cat in the show's semifinals on Monday. While most of the audience as well as Bülent Ceylan (44) and Sonja Zietlow (52) had guessed the German-Greek singer, council guest Rea Garvey (47, "Hy Brasil") was wrong. Leandros takes it with humor: "Rea Garvey can say anything", she laughs in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

You can look back on an incredibly successful career. Why did you want to get involved in "The Masked Singer"?

Vicky Leandros: I found this show exciting from the start. It has an extraordinary concept, is humorous and funny. Just a great entertainment show and I was drawn to it. I'm really up for all nonsense – or almost everyone. I also love Mardi Gras and dressing up. So "The Masked Singer" suits me exactly.

Was it surprising that so many people ended up betting on you?

Leandros: Yes and no. On the one hand, it's a great compliment that people recognize my voice so quickly. On the other hand, it might have been more exciting for the show if you hadn't been recognized until the end.

Have you already received messages from your musician colleagues?

Leandros: No, I haven't. But from a great many other people – from friends and acquaintances. Some of them were very surprised and were also happy. I found that very nice.

Rea Garvey was sure that no professional could be under the costume. What were you thinking at that moment?

Leandros: Rea Garvey can say anything. He's such a lovely person and a wonderful colleague. He has fool freedom with me. I wasn't angry with him for a minute.

How difficult was it for you to keep your participation a secret?

Leandros: That was really difficult. You have to lie to a lot of friends and family to keep the secret. But now you will understand. Many have written to me: "It must be you. I recognize you by your voice." I just never answered. I think that's the best. And other friends asked me directly: "Tell me, where are you next week?" Then I said, "I'm recording music in another city."

Do you have any guess who is among the remaining costumes?

Leandros: Not at all. I'll be surprised in the final and I'm looking forward to it. As a colleague, I wish everyone victory. They all do it very well and are very sweet about it.
