the most ergonomic gaming chair

Razer is moving into gaming chairs, but ergonomic ones, with this new Fujin. We tested the Fujin Pro, the brand’s most high-end model.

After offering several more or less successful gaming chairs, Razer is opening up to a new range, that of ergonomic chairs. The Razer Fujin Pro, a high-end version of the classic Fujin, is fundamentally different from the manufacturer’s other models and this is not to displease us.

At more than 1000 euros, this ergonomic chair, but intended for gamers, must justify its price. And it must be said that she has more than one asset to get there. We tested it for many weeks and here is our verdict.

Razer Fujin Pro technical sheet

  • Chair material: Breathable mesh (back and top), aluminum alloy (frame)
  • Armrests: 4D, faux leather covering
  • Max inclination: 136°
  • Lumbar support: 2D (adjustable in height and depth)
  • Max load: 137 kg
  • Recommended height: 170 cm – 200 cm

This test was carried out with a Razer Fujin Pro provided to the editorial staff by Razer.

Child’s play to assemble

The assembly stage is always critical for a gaming chair, whether it is ergonomic like the Razer Rujin or not. Many parts must fit together with multiple screws of different sizes and the joining of sometimes imposing elements (the backrest for example) can pose a problem if you are alone assembling your chair.

We might as well say it right away, we were very pleasantly surprised by the ease of assembling this chair. And even much more satisfied than the experience of unboxing the Secretlab Titan Evo 2020, which was one of its great qualities.

We appreciate the fact that Razer has reduced the number of elements in the box as much as possible, which greatly facilitates assembly. The instructions are clear, all the screws are pre-installed and assembly can be done in around ten minutes if you are efficient. We would like this to be the case for all chairs.

A screwdriver is included in the package, as well as spare screws if you’re the type to lose them every four mornings. And last little touch from Razer: rather thin protective gloves are included in the packaging if you ever worry about getting injured.

A design far from current gimmicks

The Fujin Pro is Razer’s first chair to feature an ergonomic design. She therefore abandons the gimmicks of a gaming chair to draw inspiration from other manufacturers like Herman Miller, Steelcase or even Sihoo.

The biggest difference will be in the construction of the chair, so the supports are all made of breathable mesh and not a foam surrounded by fabric. This gives the chair a sober and minimalist look with the most beautiful effect, which will fit into any office without too much hassle. Razer’s emblematic green is only present on a small label on the backrest.

The different elements of the chair are supported by an aluminum alloy frame which also knows how to be forgotten, but whose appearance we frankly prefer compared to the plastic of certain other “racing” models. It really feels like it acts as an exoskeleton for the rest of the chair.

If you like this kind of aesthetic, as we do, then this Razer Fujin Pro will definitely please you and will complete an office with elegance and sobriety. Quite simply.

Adjust your chair as you wish

Ergonomic chair requires, you will necessarily be entitled to a whole series of adjustments to adapt the chair according to your body shape, but also your preferences.

Starting with the backrest tilt system which also adapts the tilt of the chair seat at the same time. This soberly titled “Synchro-tilt” system seemed rather effective to us, especially since the two elements will not tilt at the same angle, as other gaming chairs do (like the Enki Pro for example). You can of course adjust the hardness of the adjustment using a small lever located under the seat on the right.

The lumbar support adjustment is one of the great strengths of this seat. This is actually made up of two oval elements to support both sides of your back and can be adjusted in height, but also in depth to adapt to all body shapes.

Finally, the 4D armrests do their job, with all possible adjustments imaginable (vertical, horizontal, depth and rotation) without much effort. The headrest can also be adjusted in height and depth, but we found it less easy to handle. Indeed, it turned out to be quite capricious, changing its inclination as soon as the head lands on it, while the height adjustment seemed more difficult to us than the others. A point to perfect on the next version of the chair.

A truly ergonomic chair

As this is Razer’s first ergonomic chair, we were very curious to see if the manufacturer would also convince us of comfort. This is the great strength of its competitors in this field, who for sometimes off-putting prices offer products on this point that are impeccable.

No more cushions, make way for the smooth, breathable mesh seat, a good point for the hot summer months. Neither too hard nor too soft, this seat strikes the right balance in my opinion. Suffering from coccydynia (coccyx pain exacerbated by sitting), I felt no discomfort even after a full day. Even the SecretLab couldn’t relieve me.

Overall, you sit very well on this Fujin Pro and the general ergonomics of the chair encourage you to keep a good posture, while allowing you to do some crazy things with its different settings. We particularly appreciate the lumbar support which does its job very well without imposing itself, also very helped by its very simple adjustments.

The armrests are also very well made, padded with a very comfortable imitation leather covering. On this point, gaming and ergonomic chairs have, it seems, found the right formula not to change. Our only regret concerns the headrest, far too capricious in its position to be reliable.

Finally, let’s talk about the mobility of the Razer Fujin Pro, which still weighs more than 37 kilos, the high average for this type of product. We encountered no problems on carpet, you can easily twirl around on your chair without too much effort despite its weight. Obviously, you will have to accompany the chair a little to position it as you wish, but nothing surprising on this type of size.

Razer Fujin Pro price and release date

The Razer Fujin Pro chair is sold for 1,199.99 euros on the Razer website. It is regularly out of stock, so you have to be alert and regularly monitor the manufacturer’s stocks to hope to order one.

This is a premium price for a chair that is just as premium. We are still cheaper than at Herman Miller, a leader in the field, with models that some exceed 2000 euros.

Note that Razer offers a frankly questionable warranty: 5 years for the frame and the various mechanisms (including the armrests), but only 1 year for the mesh of the seat and back support. Can do Razer better.
