According to US media reports, the streaming service Disney + has issued a warning before some episodes of the classic puppet "The Muppet Show".

According to US media reports, the streaming service Disney + has put a note in front of some old episodes of the classic puppet "The Muppet Show". This should warn against "negative representations and / or incorrect treatment of people or cultures". Accordingly, 18 of the total of over 100 episodes are provided with the note, which continues to say: "These stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong today." Instead of removing this content, the aim is to point out its harmful effects, learn from it and stimulate conversation in order to create a "more inclusive future".

"The Muppet Show" ran for five seasons from 1976 to 1981 and was attended by some of the biggest stars of the time. According to the US industry portal "Variety", the episodes that now start with the warning include those with Steve Martin, Johnny Cash, Debbie Harry and Joan Baez.

Even films with a warning

The streaming service "Die Muppet Show" is not currently showing in Germany. But also films on Disney + have for some time been given the warning label because of racist clichés and cannot be accessed with children's profiles, including "Peter Pan", "Aristocats", "Lady and the Tramp", "Dumbo" and "The Jungle Book".
