This Monday, October 11, 2021, DC Comics revealed, through a press release, that the new Superman would have an affair with a man. Superman therefore becomes bi.
A bisexual Superman? This will soon be the case in the next issue of The Adventures of the New Superman, dedicated to John Kent, the son of Clark Kent. The comic, due out in November 2021, will reveal Superman aka John Kent’s affair with a man. The publisher DC Comics, a subsidiary of Warner Bros, announced this Monday, October 11, 2021. “I have always said that everyone needs heroes and has the right to represent themselves in these heroes. Jon Kent has found his identity (…) The new Superman is displayed as bisexual”, explains comic book author Tom Taylor.
“The symbol of Superman has always been hope, truth and justice. Today that symbol is something more (and) more people can identify with the most powerful superhero in comics.”, he adds.

Superman, new queer icon?
And we already know with which male character John Kent will live this novel romance at DC Comics. In the August 2021 issue, our Superman befriended a reporter named Jay Nakamura. In the November 2021 edition, the two men will finally fall in love. Moreover, DC Comics has already revealed a first image of the couple, directed by the artist John Timms. John Kent is seen kissing Jay Nakamura.
No doubt: after a series Aquaman which featured a black and gay superhero, as well as a bisexual Robin in the new Batman comics, DC Comics is determined to break the codes of our traditional superheroes.
