The Paris Stock Exchange closed up 0.43% on Wednesday, in the absence of major meetings and on the eve of a public holiday in the United States, which will reserve a session without American investors.

The flagship CAC 40 index gained 31.28 points to 7,260.73 points, its highest since September 20. On Tuesday, it fell 0.24%.

The session, which hosted a few publication of indicators in the United States, however took place without any major surprises.

Investors did not particularly react to the publication of the minutes of the last meeting of the Federal Reserve (Fed).

“All” Fed officials considered “that it would be appropriate to maintain a restrictive (monetary) policy for a certain period of time” in order to ensure that inflation comes close to its target of 2%, according to the minutes of the meeting of October 31 and November 1, published Tuesday evening.

This report showed that “the prospect of a new tightening [des taux] is maintained”, but “in view of the current evolution of the dollar and market prices, investors seem very unconvinced that a new turn of the monetary screw is coming”, summarized James Harte, analyst at Tickmill.

On the values side, Capgemini closed up 3.07% to 183.20 euros, recording the strongest growth in the CAC 40.

As black gold prices fell following the postponement of the ministerial meeting of the OPEC+ alliance countries, oil stocks suffered losses: TotalEnergies fell 1.75% to 61.85 euros. Vallourec lost 1.77% to 12.74 euros.

The world number one luxury brand LVMH gained 1.16% to 712.30 euros.

The collective catering group Elior, which announced that it had reduced its net loss in 2022-2023 to 93 million euros, compared to 427 million in the previous financial year, and welcomed the “beginnings of a recovery”, climbed by 6 .17% to 2.27 euros, recording the best performance of the SBF 120 index, which brings together the 120 largest market capitalizations listed in Paris.
