Isn’t freedom what guides your two characters, Hannibal and Annabelle?
CHRISTIAN RAUTH: As a cop, Hannibal has always been free. He is retired but returning to service. He kept his old ways. I rediscovered the ways of Inspector Auquelin, my character in the series Navaro. And I liked it.
JULIE-ANNE ROTH: They don’t have the manual to understand each other. In addition, Annabelle suffers from dyslexia, which obliges her to carry out her activity differently. The authors were somewhat inspired by the hero of sherlock, which also has this feature.
As luck would have it, Annabelle is forced to reopen an investigation that Hannibal once carried out too forcefully. Can we understand the fact that he assumes what he has done?
CR: He does not dispute what he is accused of, the way he managed to arrive at the suspect’s confession. But it was the only way she could pin him down.
J.-AR: It works on instinct. She, much less…
Why have they been angry for so long?
CR: Among thriller heroes, there are always wounds. He left home. His kid suffered. He tried to remedy that but there was a misunderstanding.
J.-AR: The original trauma is heavy. That Annabelle felt abandoned is understandable. We do not leave a home without ever giving news… But this kind of problem is unfortunately quite classic in families.
Is this your first time playing together?
CR: No, we had already done an episode of Josephine, guardian angel. But it was pure comedy. Here we are in something more complex. When I played with Julie-Anne, I was not with my daughter but with an actress.
J.-AR: When I went to castings, I didn’t know that Christian was going to be chosen. We both prepared my tests without knowing that, ultimately, we were really going to play together.
Could this unit give rise to a series?
CR: It is in question, if the public is at the rendezvous. There are six episodes in writing. For her, I would like. Julie-Anne deserves it.
J.-AR: The authors should be able to highlight Annabelle’s dyslexia more, and the unique way she has of understanding situations and carrying out her investigations. It would make her a really original character.
