The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 will benefit from a new hybrid engine

Peugeot’s plan to become a purely electric car manufacturer in Europe by 2030 will have made good progress next year since each of the models in its range will benefit from an electrified engine. In 2023, the aging but proven Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 will benefit from a new engine of light hybrid powertrains.

The hybrid system itself consists of a 134 hp 1.2 PureTech petrol engine for 230 Nm of torque, combined with a variable geometry turbo. A 21 kW electric motor is housed in a new dual-clutch automatic transmission, developed by Punch Powertrain. Using a 48V battery that recharges while driving, this technology delivers increased low-end torque and a 15% reduction in fuel consumption. It also allows driving in zero-emission mode up to 1 km at low speed and over short distances in town.

Peugeot is not currently communicating on prices, but regarding the 3008, we can expect the mild-hybrid to be below the plug-in hybrid versions available only in Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 and Hybrid4 300 e versions. -EAT8, starting at €46,400 and €53,600 respectively. The Peugeot 5008 does not yet exist in an electrified version, so it will be a first and this mild-hybrid 48 V engine could top the range. All these engines will be available from the beginning of next year.
