If only you could have been there. As the night owl members of the editorial staff were following last night’s PlayStation Showcase, all of a sudden, our dear editor Kelma suddenly burst into flames, shouting out a “The Plucky Squire !!!”. Yes, it is indeed one of the Devolver Digital productions that we are eagerly awaiting. It should be added that the authors behind this title are far from being unknown… The studio All Possible Futures was founded by James Turner, Artistic Director at Pokémon Sword And Shield and Jonathan Biddle, co-director of The Swords of Ditto (designed at Onebitbeyond).
Except for two letters, we had a brave Squirrel
It must be said that the promise of The Plucky Squire and the first images shown by All Possible Futures were more than pleasing. It all starts in the Kingdom of Mojo, a book where the heroes live a life of 2D adventures, with a very cartoonish aesthetic. Then the world opens up beyond the borders of the book. The protagonist Jot then gains in volume, and can thus explore a 3D universe: that of a child’s room, with toys and trinkets everywhere you look, like a Toy Story. Going on the fly from 3D to 2D, having fun with perspectives, and playing with the intertwining of these two worlds, The Plucky Squire arouses curiosity.
The Plucky Squire is announced for this year on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
