At the end of 2022, the major national operators – with the exception of Free – had all hinted that they would gradually increase their prices, due to rising operating costs, linked to inflation. At the beginning of February, Orange mentioned increases in its subscriptions and packages of around €1 to €2, also announced at Sosh, its low-cost brand. Today, we note that the price increases have started well, after having received an e-mail entitled: “Your internet offer will increase by 1€, we explain everything to you”.
“We are currently facing a significant increase in our operating costs, in particular the energy that powers our mobile and internet networks. However, we have decided not to pass on all of this increase to our customers and to limit €1 including tax per month, the increase in the price of your subscription” explains Orange in its message, adding that “this decision will take effect on your bill from April 2023”.
Obviously, as with any package from any operator, this unilaterally imposed price increase gives rise to the right to terminate its offer free of charge, the operator also inviting those who wish to switch to another offer. less expensive, or to contact its customer service. The termination process can be undertaken during the 4 months following receipt of the notice of increase.
Sosh and new customers also affected
These increases applied to the operator’s customers may also concern mobile offers, this is particularly the case with Sosh, some customers having received the same type of e-mail announcing an increase in packages of €1 per month.
They already apply, moreover, to new customers. Indeed, in recent days, most mobile offers from Orange have increased by 2 to 3 €. Increases which, for the moment, only apply to the first year of commitment, the final rates after 12 months having not changed to our knowledge. As for Livebox (Internet) subscriptions, it’s the same thing: new customers have been offered higher prices for the first 12 months for a few days, in particular for Livebox Fibre, Up Fiber and Max Fibre.
Note that Red By SFR also increased its prices by €0.69 or €0.99 in January and that Bouygues Télécom also rolled out price increases of between €1 and €3 on certain packages and subscriptions.
