The rumors around the PS5 Pro continue to gain credit over the weeks. Even today, The Verge puts forward the idea that Sony is currently asking developers to prepare and ensure that their titles can take advantage of the contributions of this improved model.

There PlayStation 5 was launched in 2020 and yet we have the feeling that the new generation is just getting started. A situation due to shortages, an industry which is contracting, and games which are still often “ cross-gen “. However, everything suggests that Sony will soon release a Pro version of its PS5, allowing players to better benefit from the latest advances.

Ready, Play, go!

We’ve been talking about a PS5 Pro for months now and things continue to lead us towards confirmation of its arrival on the shelves. Today, it was our colleagues at The Verge who put a part back in the machine, indicating, through Tom Warren, that they had access to the complete list of specifications.

This is not what interests us here, but rather what several sources “close to Sony’s projects” have confided. According to the journalist, Sony has already asked developers to ensure the compatibility of their games with the PS5 Pro and to emphasize the use of ray-tracing by this summer. We did not have access to the same people, but our own sources indicate that what is written is fairly accurate.

Various documents would also show that creators will have more direct access to the system’s memory, allowing them to benefit from integrated technologies. Sony has not yet announced anything about this PS5 Pro, but The Verge estimates that the machine could arrive at the end of the year if the developers manage to prepare a sufficient number of games.

PS5 Pro: a “high-end” version of the console

Already sold more than 50 million units, the PS5 may not need a more powerful model. Several developers have recently gone in this direction, indicating that they do not see the benefit of such a machine. This is probably not Sony’s opinion, and, even if we are careful not to assert that the PS5 Pro is a reality, everything suggests that its announcement is only a matter of time.

The PS5 Pro, codenamed Trinity, would feature a more efficient GPU, capable of working 45% faster than the chip present on the classic model. For its part, the CPU remains the same, but could work in two different modes depending on needs, and thus offer more flexibility.

At the same time, the documents to which our colleagues had access indicate that access to 1.2 GB of additional memory (for a total of 13.7 GB), in synergy with the increase in speed, could help to take into account supports the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. This technology would be equivalent to NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. Sony would also specify that the memory bandwidth would increase by 28%, to 576 GB/s.

Sony PlayStation 5

  • The DualSense which could be a game-changer if games exploit it
  • The efficient interface while being beautiful and futuristic
  • A very quiet and well-cooled console

The PS5 makes a promising leap towards the next-gen, with technical improvements that give hope for an era marked by 4K and 60 FPS. The DualSense brings a real plus to the gaming experience, and the console interface is as beautiful as it is efficient. The PS5 offers a premium gaming experience in silence, and all we have to do is wait for real “next-gen” games for it to quickly become essential!
