Prime Video’s second most expensive series has a trailer and it’s 2 minutes of pure adrenaline

It is an ambitious project of which we were eager to discover the first images. Because Citadel is not just a simple spy series, it is the second most expensive production on Prime Video behind The Rings of Power, at 465 million dollars. Suffice to say that the platform is betting big on this blockbuster produced by the Russo brothers (Avengers) of which here is the synopsis, classic but enticing:

Eight years ago, Citadelle fell. The international, independent spy agency – charged with keeping everyone safe and secure – has been taken down by agents of Manticore, a powerful syndicate pulling the strings from behind the scenes. With the fall of Citadel, elite agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh had their memories erased as they narrowly escaped.

They have since lived under new identities, ignoring their past. Until one night, when Mason is found by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick, who desperately needs his help to stop Manticore from establishing a New World Order. Mason reunites with his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them across the world with the aim of stopping Manticore’s actions.

The trailer has just been unveiled and it’s 2 minutes of pure adrenaline that Prime Video offers us, between train explosion, fights, camera effects and other slow motions. A result that makes our heart beat and makes us want to be on April 28 to binge-watch the series.

In the main roles, we find two regulars of the genre: Richard Madden (Bodyguard) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico). They surround themselves with well-known faces like those of Lesley Manville and Stanley Tucci who plays Jerry of the Totally Spies.

An ambitious project

Citadel hides behind an ambitious project on the part of Prime Video: that of launching a franchise with spin-offs centered on different characters. It remains to be seen if the first season will be a hit.

It must be said that the bickering behind the scenes did not give him good press: those in particular between the Russo brothers (only producers) and the screenwriters Josh Appelbaum / Andre Nemec who did not share the same vision. A disagreement that pushed the director and the producer to leave the current project, forcing the actors to go back to filming under the direction of Thomas Sigel, a cinematographer who has already collaborated with the Russo brothers.
