Broadcast this Saturday March 11 on France 3, the police TV movie “The Secret of the cave”, carried by Elodie Varlet (“More beautiful life”) and Samy Gharbi (“Tomorrow belongs to us”), could it have a sequel? We asked the question to Samy Gharbi.
The gendarmes Manon Ferret-Duval and Riad Lekcir, embodied by Elodie Varlet (More beautiful life) and Samy Gharbi (Tomorrow belongs to us), will they soon return to France 3 to carry out new investigations?
Broadcast this Saturday, March 11, the TV movie The Secret of the Cave, directed by Christelle Raynal (Clem, The Art of Crime), transports us to the village of Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, where a local figure is found murdered on the banks of the Ardèche river by young kayakers.
The murder weapon is a carved stone dating back more than 40,000 years, a period corresponding to the presence of men in the rock cave in the region. Gendarmerie Captain Riad Lekcir, in charge of the investigation, must team up with his counterpart in the research section, Manon Ferret-Duval.
The beginning of an explosive collaboration because a painful past binds them. In December 1994, parallel to the discovery of this cave, Kamel, Riad’s older brother, was indeed arrested, accused of having killed the parents of Manon (who was 8 years old at the time). But after seeing his alibi fall apart, Kamel committed suicide in police custody.
Thirty years later, Riad and Manon will have to put aside this heavy past in order to carry out this investigation which will finally establish a link between these two cases. And thus bring back the ghosts of the past.
Will The Secret of the Cave get a sequel?
At the end of the TV movie, Manon manages to discover the truth about the murder of her parents. But she also grows closer to Riad, leaving the door open to a very probable romantic relationship between the two heroes of The Secret of the Cave who, at the start, hated each other.
So, could the very beautiful chemistry that exists between Elodie Varlet and Samy Gharbi make France 3 and the production want to order a sequel to this police unit?
“A sequel is quite possible, given the end. We obviously imagine a love story between them, but they are not obliged to settle down immediately as a couple. They can continue to sniff each other, to seek each other , while conducting another investigation”replied Samy Gharbi, who therefore seems quite ready to step into the shoes of Riad Lekcir.

“We are often asked for a sequel since the broadcast of the TV movie in Belgium, so why not”continues the actor who told us about the difference between Riad and his other cop character in Tomorrow belongs to us. “It means that the pair worked well so it’s great. But it has not yet been discussed with the channel. I think they are waiting for the hearings”.
As you will have understood, no project is in the pipeline for the moment, but in the event of success this evening on France 3, it is not forbidden to think that The Secret of the cave could give rise to other TV movies featuring the characters of Elodie Varlet and Samy Gharbi.
And, while waiting to find out more, thriller lovers will be able to continue to devour the many police television films that France 3 still has in stock, including Meurtres à Pont-Aven, with Alexandre Brasseur, Astrid Roos and Naïma Rodric, which will be offered Saturday March 18 at 9:10 p.m.
